At Hawaii National Bank, your security is our top priority. And with the new year comes new tools to protect your financial information and combat identity theft. Beginning later this month, the WizCenter Internet Banking system will implement new security features. The "ICON" system will help confirm your identity when signing into our online banking service through a two-way authentication process.
It's simple. You'll simply pick an image, write a brief phrase, and select three challenge questions. Signing up takes just a few minutes. The image, personal phrase and challenge questions work together to help:
- Protect Your Accounts. WizCenter Internet Banking will begin to recognize how you login. If you use the same computers ? from your office or from home, for example ? our system will allow you to login. However, if someone tries to access your accounts from an unrecognized computer or location, one of your challenge questions must be answered first. Whether you're traveling and using a public Internet terminal, or if your username or password are stolen, your accounts are still protected.
- Confirm the Web site's validity. Once you enter your login ID and click the submit button, you will see your secret image and phrase. If the image and phrase don't appear, you could be at a fraudulent site. This capability prevents "phishing" or "spoofing," and will help ensure that you are not fooled by fake versions of our Web site.
Remember, banking online is even more secure than paper based banking. When you use online banking, for example, you can detect fraud earlier by reviewing account activity regularly, rather than waiting for a monthly statement in the mail.
The "ICON" system is scheduled to be introduced on February 20, and will be available when you arrive at the MyPortal login page. Simply follow the on-screen instructions to set up your phrase and challenge questions. Then, you can sit back and relax, knowing that your banking information is safe and secure online.
