Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I signup?

When you login to online banking, you will be prompted to enroll your applicable accounts into the Online Statement program. No additional steps are needed.

What is an Online Statement?

You may elect to receive your statement online only for any Eligible Accounts (defined below), that you choose. Online Statements will be viewable electronically in Portable Document Format (“PDF”) that you can view online, save to your computer or print at your convenience. Any legal notices that normally accompany your mailed statement will be delivered electronically. After enrolling in Hawaii National Bank (HNB) Online Statements, you will no longer receive a mailed (paper) statement.

What accounts are eligible for online statements?

In order to receive online statements you must be a HNB Online Banking customer. Checking, Savings and Loan accounts all qualify for online statements. Each account must be enrolled for the Service on an individual basis. Online statements will be available at the same frequency as your statement was previously mailed. Checking accounts will be available monthly; Savings accounts will be available at least quarterly unless you have qualifying transactions which require a monthly statement to be provided to you.

If I agree to receive HNB Online Statements, legal notices and disclosures and change my mind, what can I do and what are the consequences?

You can change your mind and withdraw your consent at any time. You will not be charged a fee for this request. Once you turn off Online Statements you will automatically begin receiving mailed (paper) statements with your next statement cycle. The previous twelve (12) months statements will still be available for your viewing when you sign into HNB Online Banking.

What are the hardware and software requirements for me to access or retain the electronic records?

You will need a computer with sufficient memory to store electronic records, a working internet connection and e-mail capability. You will need an up to date web-browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Firefox. Your browser will need to have 128-bit encryption capabilities. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view, print and/or save your Online Statements or Legal Notices. A link to adobe.com will be provided on our web site if you need to download the software. There is no fee for this download. You are responsible for configuring your system to accommodate these requirements. All of your daily transactions and funds transfers will appear on your Online Statements. You will need a printer if you want to print copies of your electronic records. If we change the minimum hardware or software requirement needed to access or retain electronic records, and the change creates a material risk that you would not be able to access or retain a subsequent record, we will notify you before the changes take effect and let you know what the new requirements are. We will notify you by email, and at that time you will be allowed to choose whether you still want to give us your consent to receiving communications or information in electronic format. If not, you will be allowed to withdraw your consent.

How will the electronic records be provided to me?

We will notify you by email that your current month’s statement is available. You will then sign into HNB Online Banking to retrieve your statement.

Are there any additional requirements for HNB Online Statement?

You must provide to us your current email address and keep it current with us at all times. If we do not have your current email address you may not receive electronic notification in a timely manner. You may update your email address by signing onto HNB Online Banking and selecting the “Options” tab. You may also send us an email at hnbinfo@hnbhawaii.com informing us of your new email address.
